A Sad Day for Nellie's!!

This message to you is one of the hardest I’ve ever had to write to my followers.
After careful consideration and many long, late night discussions with my husband, it is with deep regret and sadness that we are announcing the end of our Nellie’s Barn Sale events. The already planned October 4 & 5 event will be cancelled and we won’t be hosting any barn sales in the future.
Multiple factors have played a part in this life-changing decision. But the most important is the status of my husband's shoulder pain issue. He suffers from a chronic pain caused by an old injury that doctors have not been able to find the source of the pain. He is the muscle behind Nellie's. He hauls equipment, sets up two acres of snow fencing, sets up barricades, helps vendors with anything they need, carts the generators to and from the site, retrieves and returns all the cozy couches and chairs you sit on at the bar and music stage, and is responsible for all the other heavy lifting, tugging, and moving of equipment necessary to produce a two day event.
We did not arrive at this decision lightly. I’ve toiled over it. I’ve lost sleep over it. When all is said and done I need to put my family first. I need to give my husband the well-deserved rest and retirement he was looking forward to five years ago when he put in his last day of construction and cement work.
But there is a bright side. I hope all you shoppers and shop owners will be happy to hear that, in place of doing our fall barn sale, we will instead add a second Vintage Shop Hop to the fall schedule! Ink in the date of Friday and Saturday, October 4 & 5 to get out and road trip for the first ever fall Vintage Shop Hop. As far as the Christmas at the Farm event that I co-host with Meyer’s Tails Up Farm, nothing changes. The show will go on as scheduled for November 1 & 2.
I can’t tell you how grateful Jesse and I are for the continued support of our shoppers, vendors, food trucks owners and musicians over the years. We have had a blast! We’ve been doing these shows since I began in my yard over 12 years ago. So many of you have been witness to our success. You have seen the event grow from a backyard tag sale to one of the most authentic and respected vintage markets in the region. We appreciate your business and friendship. It’s been a great run.
If you don't already follow the Vintage Shop Hop or Christmas at the Farm pages, find them here:
Until then, happy junking!
